Draw winners

The winner of the Check It Out raffle for an iPad was Rebbeca Reid of Larbert. David Brown won £100 and both tickets came from the Station Store. The next draw for the £100 voucher will take place on January 22. Tickets available from Car Gear, Libbys, Pauline Hairdressers, Costcutter Larbert, Fry, Station Store and all shops with Check It Out posters.

Car Boot

The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. until noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Tables are available for anyone wishing to make some money from unwanted items and all money raised benefits the Hall Trust. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.

Al Anon

A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. North Broomage

Bingo continues on Monday, Thursday and Saturdays at 7 p.m. The club is available for hire to accommodate birthday parties, weddings etc. and further information is available by calling the club after 6 p.m. on (01324) 552685.

East Playgroup

Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.

Badminton Club

The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15 and 9 p.m.

Toddler Group

Toddlers Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. It runs on Thursday mornings between 9.30-11 a.m. The cost is £1 per child and includes snacks. A warm welcome awaits and for further information call Alison on 07983 534424.

Aerobics Class

Ochilview Bar

Tonight, Thursday, the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge of the former Warriors Club at 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.

Barbershop Singing

Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. Buddhism Meeting

Practitioners of Nichiren Bhuddism meet once a month in the Rotary Hall, Larbert – next to the Dobbie – and anyone with an interest is welcome to attend. Further information is available on website

Larbert Bowling

The club would be happy to accommodate new members and information is available at the bar. Cash bingo goes ahead every Monday at 7.30 p.m. in the club’s Pretoria Road premises.

Walking Football

Stenhousemuir F.C. Community Development Director, Jamie Kirk, would be delighted to hear from anyone over 50 wishing to enjoy a new initiative at the club. Walking Football goes ahead at Ochilview every Monday at 10 a.m. and given running with the ball is out of bounds it is ideal for those who feel they would benefit from a gentler form of the game as well as enjoying the social aspect. Tryst Dental Practice sponsors the local sessions where a cuppa can also be partaken. Jamie reckons describing the game does not do it justice and it is better to come along and witness it in practice. The game is already massive in England and Jamie is in the process of fixing up dates for matches against two Premiership clubs South of the border. Motherwell piloted the event a couple of years ago and a match against them is also in the pipeline. Why not pop in a give it a try or call the Football Club on (01324) 562992.

Stenhousemuir Bowling

Stenhousemuir Bowling Club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green and forms are available at the bar. The entry fee has been reduced to half price at the current time.

Salvation Army

Stenhousemuir Salvation Army Cornerstone Full Gospel Church worship service led by Pastor Alex Paton at 10.30 a.m. until noon every Sunday. At 2.30-3.30 p.m is Salvation Army Sunday Worship, led by Major John McCaffrey. The Home League will be off until January 5. Headway Falkirk’s Memory Group start back Tuesday, January 6 and our joint prayer on Wednesday, January 7. The Headway Craft Group will start back first week in February. Cornerstone Full Gospel Church will hold there first Men’s Breakfast Saturday, January 10 from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Stephen McGuire will be the speaker. The Woman’s Breakfast will follow the next week at the same time with Ruth Paton the speaker.

Stenhouse & Carron

The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Thomson. Light refreshments will be available in the hall after the service.

Larbert West

On Saturday at 7.30 p.m. Laura Sergeant and friends will be performing a concert playing works by Schubert and Boccherini. All welcome to this event to which entry is by donation. The service on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. will be conducted by Rev. Dr Campbell Campbell-Jack. Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Refreshments and fellowship in the hall after the service. All welcome. The Guild meet on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. when the minister will address his subject of Special Days.

Grace Church

Larbert East

The morning service on Sunday is at 10.30 a.m. led by Rev. Melville Crosthwaite, There will be a ‘Holiday’ Young Church for 3-12 year olds and will meet in the Small Hall before the service. Crèche will be held in the Session Room. Afterwards, tea/coffee and biscuits will be served in the hall and the Traidcraft Stall will also be available.

Jog Scotland

The spring session of the Jogging Group will commence on Monday, January 5 at the Carrongrange Annex of Larbert High School at 7 p.m. Looking for a start with a fitness regime in the New Year then the group could be for you! All levels are catered for and it is a good opportunity to meet others of the same mind in a fun and friendly environment. Beginners are made particularly welcome. With a successful seasonal dinner and afternoon of entertainment from ‘Sweet Harmony’ barber shop singers seemingly just enjoyed, it is time again to welcome the start of a new year and invite all the members of Larbert & Stenhousemuir to return to Larbert Bowling Club on Tuesday, Janaury 6 at 2 p.m. to hear member Ian Howarth, on his involvement with golf events from the US Masters to the Ryder Cup. If members have any golfing friends they too will, be made most welcome to hear of Ian’s unique insights on these and other events.
