The first fundraising event for the Vine Trust trip to Tanzania in September was a coffee morning, on February 21. It was a great success, raising £429 towards the building fund. The more money raised the more materials the group can buy to help build more houses in Tanzania.

The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Thomson. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. Light refreshments will be available in the hall after the service. The Wednesday Welcome awaits you in the hall at 10 a.m. All are welcome to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the minister’s thought for the day.
The Lodge conferred the fellowcraft degree on February 25. After the degree IPM William Campbell was presented with a PM Apron, sash and case as a token of esteem from the brethren of the Lodge for his tenure as RWM. Brother Campbell, being the epitome of a freemason, was humbled at the gift. The next meeting is on Wednesday, March 11 at 7.30 p.m. when the Lodge will confer the Master mason degree.
The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. until noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Tables are available for anyone wishing to make some money from unwanted items and all money raised benefits the Hall Trust. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.
A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11.a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11.a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.
The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15-9 p.m.
Toddlers tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. Every Sunday at 3 p.m. a domino competition goes ahead when the winner takes home a steak pie and runner-up a quarter bottle of spirits. Entry is £1 and monies raised go to charity. Tonight, Thursday, the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge at 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.
Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. Stenhousemuir F.C. Community Development Director, Jamie Kirk, would be delighted to hear from anyone over 50 wishing to enjoy a new initiative at the club. Walking Football goes ahead at Ochilview every Monday morning at 10.a.m. and given running with the ball is out of bounds it is ideal for those who feel they would benefit from a gentler form of the game as well as enjoying the social aspect. Stenhousemuir Bowling Club continues the cabaret season on Saturday when club favourite Robert T Leonard returns to the venue. Robert takes the stage around 9 p.m. following the bingo and David Taylor fill the gaps with his disco. All tickets for the show have already gone, but those unlucky on this occasion should note that similar events go ahead on the last Saturday of every month. Meanwhile, currently celebrating its 150th birthday, the club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green and forms are available at the bar. The entry fee has been reduced to half price at the current time.

Bleakley, one of the Falkirk Street Pastors. The club next meets on Tuesday at 2 p.m. and, out of sequence with the published programme, will learn of the research by Ronnie Cheape and Ronnie Laing into WW1 graves.
Lively walks in Larbert take place every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwords. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute walk or brisker one hour walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk.
