Larbert Old

PTA Bingo

PTA Bingo in North Broomage Social Club on Saturday, May 8. Eyes down 7.30 p.m., doors 7 p.m. Bring your own cup, lots of prizes to be won. Entry £1.

Car Boot

The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. unti noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Tables are available for anyone wishing to make some money from unwanted items and all money raised benefits the Hall Trust. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.

Al Anon

A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. The group also meets in Grahamston United Church, Falkirk, on Mondays at the same time. For a local contact number call 0141 339 8884.

North Broomage

Bingo continues on Monday, Thursday and Saturdays at 7 p.m. The club is available for hire to accommodate birthday parties, weddings etc. and further information is available by calling the club after 6 p.m. on (01324) 552685.

East Playgroup

Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years, six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.

Badminton Club

The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15-9 p.m.

Toddler Group

Toddlers, Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. It runs on Thursdays between 9.30-11 a.m. The cost is £1 per child and includes snacks. A warm welcome awaits and for further information call Alison on 07983 534424.

Aerobics Class

Aerobics and conditioning classes go ahead very Tuesday and Thursday in Larbert West Church from 6.25-7.30 p.m. Those wishing to become toned fitter will be made welcome. Further information from Sheila on (01324) 634192, or 07859 933877.

Ochilview Bar

A former favourite of the old Warriors Club has resumed and bingo will take place every Friday when eyes-down is at 8 p.m. prompt. Meanwhile, every Sunday at 3 p.m. a domino competition goes ahead when the winner takes home a steak pie and runner-up a quarter bottle of spirits. Entry is £1 and monies raised go to charity. Tonight (Thursday), the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features.

Barbershop Singing

Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. Buddhism Meeting

Practitioners of Nichiren Bhuddism meet once a month in the Rotary Hall, Larbert – next to the Dobbie – and anyone with an interest is welcome to attend. Further information is available on website

Larbert Bowling

A prize bingo goes ahead at the club next Thursday, May 7, with eyes down at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are £1 at the bar or pay on the night. Please bring a cup. The club would be happy to accommodate new members and information is available from members or at the clubrooms. Cash bingo goes ahead every Monday at 7.30 p.m. in the club’s Pretoria Road premises.

Walking Football

Stenhousemuir F.C. Community Development Director, Jamie Kirk, would be delighted to hear from anyone over 50 wishing to enjoy a new initiative at the club. Walking Football goes ahead at Ochilview every Monday at 10 a.m. and given running with the ball is out of bounds it is ideal for those who feel they would benefit from a gentler form of the game as well as enjoying the social aspect. Stenhousemuir Bowling

Currently celebrating its 150th season when all games will be played at home, the club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green. Forms are available at the bar and the entry fee has been reduced to half price at the present time.

Salvation Army

On Sunday Cornerstone Full Gospel Church meet from 10.30 a.m. to noon, run by Pastor Alex Paton. From 2.30-3.30 p.m. is Salvation Army worship led by Major John McCaffrey. On Monday the Home League will be off. Tuesdays from 10-11 a.m. is Headway Falkirk’s Memory Group, for people who have a head injury and memory problems. Every Friday from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. is a coffee morning. Every second Saturday of the month is men’s breakfast from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and each third Saturday is the women’s breakfast at the same times. Stenhouse & Carron

The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Denholm. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. Light refreshments will be available in the hall after the service. The popular Wednesday Welcome awaits you in the hall on Wednesday at 10 a.m. All are welcome to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the minister’s thought for the day.

Larbert West

The service on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. will be conducted by Rev. Campbell Campbell-Jack. Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Fellowship and refreshments in the hall after the service. All welcome. On Wednesday the prayer group meet at 1 p.m. in the lesser hall. At 7.30 p.m. there is the annual quiz night with supper in the Tryst Golf Club. Tickets £5, all welcome.

Tryst Church

Tryst Community Church will meet on Sunday at 10 a.m. in Tryst Community Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuuir for a Communion Service. Grace Church

Services this coming Sunday in Carrongrange School are at 10.30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Grace Kids also meet at 10.30 a.m. The weekly Prayer Meeting will be held this Thursday at 7.45 p.m. in the Dawson Mission. All are warmly invited to these services. The church AGM will be held on Tuesday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the Dawson Mission.

Metafit Classes

Larbert East

On Sunday, the morning service at 10.30 a.m. will be led by Rev. Melville Crosthwaite and Anne White, OLM Student in Training. The Young Church meet in the halls before the service and crèche is held in the Session Room. Tea and coffee will be served in the hall after the service and the Traidcraft Stall will also be there. The Kirk Session will meet in the Small Hall on Wednesday at 7.15 p.m. A sale of children’s clothes is held in the Upper Room on a Thursday morning from 9.15-10.45 a.m. Enter through the back door of the church hall. Weekday Worship continues on a Thursday at 11.15 a.m. This is a short service and everyone is welcome.

Braveheart Walks
Our lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on several different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. we leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwards. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30minute walk or brisker 1hr walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk. Carron Rotary

Rotary Club of Vale of Carron President Jill Dewar welcomed members and guests Lachlan McGowan and Fay Godfrey to the Plough Hotel in Stenhousemuir. After a meal and some pressing items of business Rotarian Colin Mather introduced Fay, service manager with Alzheimer Scotland, Action on Dementia. With a wealth of experience, Fay added greatly to our knowledge of an illness which damages and destroys brain cells.
