A warm invitation to the morning service in Larbert Old Church on Sunday, April 3 at 11 a.m. which will be led by Rev. John Brown. A crèche and children’s activities will be provided. A colour party from 2nd Larbert B.B. will parade the batallion colours into church at the beginning of the service. Please join in the hall afterwards for tea or coffee. On Sunday, the morning service is at 10.30 a.m. led by Rev. Melville Crosthwaite and Isabelle McMillan. The Young Church meets in the hall before the service and crèche is held in the session room. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be served in the hall afterwards and the Traidcraft stall will also be there. On Sunday evening the monthly informal service is at 6.30 p.m. when we will see a shortened recording of former probationer Minister Roy Cordukes’ recent ordination and induction in Orkney. The prayer group meets in the session room on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m. The deacons’ court meets in the large hall on Wednesday at 7.30 p.m. On Thursday morning a sale of children’s clothes takes place in the upper room from 9.15-10.45 a.m. (entry through church hall back door). Weekday worship is held in the church on a Thursday morning at 11.15 a.m. All welcome.
President Jean Geddes welcomed members and guest speaker Sandra Rankin to Wednesday’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Vale of Carron held upstairs in the Plough Hotel. After a meal and a few short items of business Rotarian Joe Nicoletti introduced the guest speaker for the evening, Sandra Rankin, co-ordinator of Home-Start Falkirk West who gave the club a very interesting and informative talk on the work done by Home-Start throughout the UK and in the Falkirk West area in particular. Home-Start UK was started in Leicester just over 40 years ago and is now a UK-wide organisation which, with the help of volunteers and family support workers, assists families in the area deal with various and diverse difficulties. The Falkirk West office has about 35 volunteers who do home visits and run group sessions throughout the area. They also organise social and fun activities such as the Christmas party, fun days and summer outings. The Rotary Club had given a donation from the proceeds of their Santa Sleigh collection in December and they were advised that this will go towards a summer outing for the families in the group. Rotarian Ken Drummond gave Sandra a warm vote of thanks.
Stenhouse & Carron
The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Thomson. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. Light refreshments will be available in the hall after the service. The popular Wednesday Welcome awaits you in the hall on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. All are welcome to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the minister’s thought for the day.
Tryst Community Church will meet in Tryst Community Centre , Park Drive, Stenhousemuir on Sunday, April 6 for a Communion Service at 10 a.m. This service will be led by Peter Henderson and there will be the opportunity afterwards to chat over tea/coffee. We will also meet on Tuesday, April 8 at 8.15 p.m. for prayer. You will be made most welcome at either of these services. Everyone is warmly welcome to the services this coming Sunday in Carrongrange School at 10.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. During the morning service elders will be presenting some information regarding the future vision and structures of the church. XStream, for children of primary school age, meets during the morning service and there is also a crèche provided. Tea and coffee are served after each service. The prayer meeting will be held in the Dawson Mission on Thursday at 7.45 p.m. Next meeting of Christianity Explored is on April 22 and the Men’s Bible Study Dinner is on April 30 at Carronvale.
Larbert Churches Youth Trust continue to hold a monthly prayer breakfast in support of the work of the Trust and schools’ worker, Mike Glass, on the first Saturday of each month. The next will be on Saturday, April 5 in Falkirk Free Church at 9 a.m.

The past masters of the lodge will confer the Mastermason degree on one candidate on Wednesday, April 9 at 7.30 p.m. This will be Lodge Carron’s last regular meeting of the season. The meeting due to be held on April 23 has been cancelled. Lodge Carron 139 has the honour of hosting the Reigning Masters degree on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m.

The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. till noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.
The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday from 8.15-9 p.m.
Toddlers Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. The green will open for the season on Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m. when Mr Jim McIntyre does the honours. The next cabaret is on Friday, April 11, when 60s and 70s band Heartbeat tops the bill. The group also does a comedy take off of Mrs Brown’s Boys and although the event is already a sell out, returned tickets, priced £6, may become available at the bar. Cash bingo goes ahead every Monday at 7.30 pm. in the Pretoria Road premises. Meanwhile, the club will be engaging with local schools during the summer months in a bid to introduce more young people to the sport and Stenhousemuir, Ladeside and Larbert Village Primaries join Larbert High in the project.
Our more popular walks in Larbert are full of welcomining faces, who enjoy the scenery on serveral different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. we leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a shorter 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwords. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving for Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join everyone in the cafe after your walk. For more information call (01324) 673703.
