St Bernadette’s Primary School, in Edward Avenue, Stenhousemuir is having its annual Summer Fayre on Saturday, May 30 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be lots of fun for all the family including live entertainment from Evolve, Stenhouse School of Dance and the school drama group with a taster of their latest production ‘Oliver’. There will also be a bouncy castle, bungee run, Tartan Warrior assault course for the more energetic, pony rides, tombola stalls, kids games, craft tent plus many more. The PM’s of the Lodge conferred the Master Mason degree on April 22. This was Lodge Carron’s last regular degree for the season. However Lodge Carron have been invited to confer the Mark Master Mason degree at Lodge Abercrombie 531 on Tuesday, April 28. Contact any office bearer for travel arrangements.

Larbert, Stenhousemuir & Torwood Community Council will meet on Monday, April 27 at 7.15 p.m. in the Halls of Larbert Old Church. All are welcome to attend the meeting and raise any matters. Falkirk Community Trust are coming along to update us on the proposed gym on Stenhousemuir Town Centre. Services this coming Sunday in Carrongrange School are at 10.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Grace Kids also meet at 10.30 a.m. The weekly Prayer Meeting will be held this Thursday at 7.45 p.m. in the Dawson Mission. Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.
The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday from 8.15-9 p.m.
Toddlers Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue continues every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. Starting tomorrow (Friday) a former favourite of the old Warriors Club returns. Bingo will take place every Friday thereafter when eyes-down is 8 p.m. prompt. Meanwhile, every Sunday at 3 p.m. a domino competition goes ahead when the winner takes home a steak pie and runner-up a quarter bottle of spirits. Entry is £1 and monies raised go to charity. Tonight (Thursday), the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.
Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) where new members will be made most welcome. Stenhousemuir F.C. Community Development Director, Jamie Kirk, would be delighted to hear from anyone over 50 wishing to enjoy a new initiative at the club. Walking Football goes ahead at Ochilview every Monday morning at 10 a.m. and given running with the ball is out of bounds it is ideal for those who feel they would benefit from a gentler form of the game as well as enjoying the social aspect. The new season kicked off last week when the club celebrated its 150th birthday and all fixtures this term will be played at home to recognise the anniversary. Falkirk Council also recognises the historical landmark with a Civic Reception at the premises on Friday, June 19. Meanwhile, the club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green and forms are available at the bar. The entry fee has been reduced to half price at the present time. Tickets, priced £6, available for 1960’s showband, Heartbeat, this Saturday. The popular musicians supply what it says on the tin and they appear on stage around 9 p.m. after the bingo. The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Thomson. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. The popular Wednesday Welcome awaits you in the hall on Wednesday at 10 a.m. All are welcome to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the minister’s thought for the day.

On Sunday, the service at 10.30 a.m. is a joint service with members of Larbert Old and will be conducted by Rev. Dr Campbell Campbell-Jack. Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Tryst Community Church will meet on Sunday at 10 a.m. in Tryst Community Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir for worship and Bible teaching. A new teaching series on ‘The Letters to the Seven Churches’ will commence and this will be led by Brian Liddle. The service will be followed by tea/coffee. Weekday Worship is held in the Church on a Thursday at 11.15 a.m. This short service is ideal for those who can’t get to church on Sundays. All welcome.
The Larbert & Stenhousemuir Probus Club met on April 14 for its AGM. The members heard the report of another busy and successful year and approved the accounts. Tribute was paid to the committee for their work and the outgoing president Tom Meikle, who because of illness, was unfortunately unable to attend. The new president, Harry Johnston, was joined by two new members on the committee for next session. After discussion as to speakers and ideas for next session, Ian Scott reminded everyone about the outing on Tuesday, April 28, meeting at the upper car park at the Falkirk Wheel at the early start time of 9.45 a.m. for onward transport to Linlithgow and return by boat along the Union Canal, with sightseeing and refreshments en route.
On Sunday, April 26, there will be no service in Larbert Old. There will be a Joint Service in Larbert West Church at 10.30 a.m. led by Rev. Campbell Campbell-Jack. Lively walks in Larbert leave every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwards. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute walk or brisker one hour walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk.
