* Tryst Church

Tryst Community Church will meet in the Tryst Community Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir on Sunday at 10am for Worship and Bible Teaching. The Bible Teaching will continue our study on ‘A closer look at Christ’ and will focus on The Actions of Christ. It will be led by Brian Liddle and there will be tea/coffee after this Service. Car Boot

The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30am till noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Tables are available for anyone wishing to make some money from unwanted items and all money raised benefits the Hall Trust. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.

Al Anon

A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8pm. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. Slimming World

New Slimming World consultant, John, invites ladies and gents and young adults aged 11 – 15 to join the friendly group at the club every Tuesday. As well as the long standing session at 7.30pm. John has added another on the same day at 5.30pm and he can be contacted on 07713 348 474. Bingo continues on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings at 7pm. The club is available for hire to accommodate birthday parties, weddings etc. and further information is available by calling the club after 6pm on 552685.


Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The Playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20am - 11am. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30 - 11am and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30 - 11am. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.

Badminton Club

The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15 - 9pm. The group would be happy to welcome new members – whatever the standard – and anyone simply.

Toddlers Tots and Twos

The above group at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue continues every Thursday. The facility is for 0 – 3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. It runs on Thursday mornings between 9.30 - 11am. The cost is £1 per child and includes snacks. A warm welcome awaits and for further information call Alison on 07983 534424.

Aerobics and Conditioning

Ochilview Bar

The old Warriors Club has resumed Friday night Bingo sessions and eyes-down is at 8pm prompt. Meanwhile, every Sunday at 3pm a domino competition goes ahead when the winner takes home a two pound steak pie and runner-up a quarter bottle of spirits. Entry is £1 and monies raised go to charity. Tonight, Thursday, the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge 8pm . Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.

Dog Runs

Larbert man Jim Campbell has created a facility to take the worry out of dog walking. Jim has some six runs at the premises near Larbert viaduct where dog owners can exercise their pets in safety, without the fear of being molested by barely trained creatures roaming around. Jim already has owners using the runs and would be happy to supply further information on 01324 873498.

Barbershop Singing

Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30pm in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. Practitioners of Nichiren Bhuddism meet once a month in the Rotary Hall, Larbert – next to the Dobbie – and anyone with an interest is welcome to attend. Further information is available on website

Larbert Bowling

The club would be happy to accommodate new members and information is available from members or at the clubrooms. Cash bingo goes ahead every Monday at in the Pretoria Road premises.

Walking Football

Stenhousemuir F.C. Community Development Director, Jamie Kirk, would be delighted to hear from anyone over 50 wishing to enjoy a new initiative at the club. A new session of Walking Football has started and places are available at Ochilview on Wednesdays at 6pm. Given running with the ball is out of bounds it is ideal for those who feel they would benefit from a gentler form of the game as well as enjoying the social aspect. Tryst Dental Practice sponsors the local sessions where a cuppa can also be partaken. Jamie reckons describing the game does not do it justice and it is better to come along and witness it in practice. Why not pop in a give it a try or call the Football Club on 562992.

Stenhousemuir Bowling

Currently celebrating its 150th season when all games will be played at home, the club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green. Forms are available at the bar and the entry fee has been reduced to half price at the present time.

Summer Fayre

The 62nd Larbert Scout Group is holding a Summer Fayre in Larbert Old Parish Church Hall (next to Larbert Cross) on Saturday, August 15, at 11am. Something for all the family is promised and includes nearly new stall, jewellery, gifts, plants, assault course, numerous children’s games and much more. There will also be a visit from the Fire and Rescue Services, home baking, refreshments and, weather permitting, a number of stalls set up outside. Small donations will be gratefully received for the nearly new stall – unfortunately this does not include clothing, linen or electrical goods – and donors should contact Group Scout Leader, George Clark, on 07718 298199. All profits from the event will go to help with the upkeep of the scout hall and provide activities for the young people of the area throughout the year.

Larbert East

On Sunday, the morning service at 10.30am will be led by the Rev. Melville Crosthwaite. We hope to welcome Schools Worker, Mike Glass and members of the Holiday Club to take part in the service. The Sacrament of Baptism will be celebrated at the end of the service. The Summer Sunday Club will meet in the small hall before the service and crèche is held in the session room. Afterwards there will be tea/coffee and biscuits served in the hall and the Traidcraft stall will also be there. All welcome.

Boys’ Brigade

3rd Larbert Boys’ Brigade is due to start back. They meet in Larbert East Church hall. The Anchor Section (primary 1-3) starts back on Friday, August 21 from 6pm-7pm. President Bill Underhill welcomed members and guests to last weeks Club Assembly at Carmuirs Golf Club. After outlining his aspirations for the forthcoming year, convenors outlined their programme of proposed activities. Assistant District Governor Ian McLean rounded off the evening by outlining the strategic priorities for Rotary – particularly the eradication of polio. The following week saw the club entering two golfers in the Rotary Junior Golf Competition held in Lockerbie. One of the entrants, 16 year old Larbert High School pupil, Bradley Ferguson won the Individual Handicap Event ahead of 20 other competitors. Playing alongside fellow High School pupil, Max Miller, Bradley also finished second in the team event. Well done to both boys. Braveheart Walks

Lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on several different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30am we leave from Forth Valley Royal Hospital, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwards. Also a Friday 10.30am walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute walk or brisker one hour walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk. On Tuesday, August 25, Braveheart are heading to Airthrey Castle for a wonderful walk around the grounds of Stirling University. This walk has both a 45min walk option and a one and half hour walk option, where we will all enjoy tea and cake in the cafe after our walk. Free transport is provided leaving from Camelon Ed Centre at 1pm and Carron Co-op at 1.10pm, returning around 4.30pm. Round Table

Larbert and Falkirk 41 Club will hold their next meeting on Monday, August 17 at the Cladhan Hotel Falkirk starting 7.15pm. Salvation Army

At the Stenhousemuir Salvation Army there is the Cornerstone Full Gospel Church Sunday from 10am to noon. This week the guest speaker will be Allan McBride. From 2.30pm to 3.30pm there is the Sunday Worship with Major John McCaffrey leading. Monday Home League is from 1.55pm to 3pm. Again, the speaker will be Major John McCaffrey. Tuesday Headway’s Memory Group is from 10am to 11am.
