History Group

The next meeting is on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Hepburn Room of the community centre. The topic is “The Battle of Britain” and is presented by Mr Roy Johnstone. A warm welcome is extended to any visitors who may be interested in this particular subject.

Parish Church

The Remembrance Service on Sunday is at 10.30 a.m. and will be led by Rev Alec Shuttleworth. Tea and coffee will be served after the service. The Young Church meets at 10.30 a.m. The Men’s Club meet on Monday at 7.30 p.m. in the Session House where David Bytheway will speak on The Coal Road. The Guild meet on Tuesday, November at 7.30 p.m. in the hall where the speaker’s topic will be glassmaking. The Scottish country dance class meet each Wednesday from 8 to 9.30 p.m. in the hall. New members, young or old, will be made most welcome. For more information call 01259 731414. The Ffundraising committee is holding a quiz evening on Saturday, November 15 at 7 p.m. in the hall. Entry forms are available from Willie McKie or Peter Park. The committee is also holding a table top sale on Saturday, November 29 in the hall from 10 a.m. until noon. Entry is £1 including tea and biscuits.
