Kids '˜moved a mile' for special classmate

Over 140 children from Wallacestone Nursery at Wallacestone Primary School in Brightons 'moved a mile' for a special classmate recently.

The little ones walked a mile around the school playground on June 7 to raise money for a fund set up to support three-year-old pupil Kerr Hunter.

Kerr was recently diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in December and since then his family and friends have been raising money to fund vital research into the condition.

The nursery pupils from the morning and afternoon groups were helped around the course by Iron Man himself and the team has so far raised £1017 for the charity.

Margaret Bishop, senior early years officer at the nursery said: “The children were really excited to take part. This is the most the nursery has ever raised for a charity so we are very pleased and want to thank everyone for being so generous.”

The final total could also receive a boost at the end of term when donations will be made during the leavers’ church service.
