Forbes Johnston (31) said he was in town anyway to see social workers so he took the opportunity to pick up some heroin for his partner, also a drug addict.

He was standing speaking on a phone talking about “kit” when police searched him and discovered ten grams of heroin worth £465.

Johnston, who appeared at Falkirk Sheriff Court last Thursday, had previously pled guilty to possessing class B drug cannabis and being concerned in the supply of class A drug heroin at 20 Grangepans, Bo’ness, on April 1, 2014.

He also admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin in Falkirk High Street on January 15 this year.

Andy Bryson, defence solicitor, said: “He had just got the drugs for his girlfriend. He had been in town for a social work appointment and his partner had been asking him to get drugs while he was there.”

A search of his home in 2014 uncovered more drugs and evidence of his dealing.

Ann Orr, procurator fiscal depute, said: “A search was carried out at the accused’s home and uncovered £380 cash, a number of wraps, tick lists. His mobile phone showed text messages that showed the accused was selling drugs to various individuals.”

The search recovered 20 grams of drugs worth a street value of £2000.

Mr Bryson said: “He has been a drug addict since he was a teenager and like many addicts has been funding his own habit by selling drugs to friends.”

The court heard Johnston had been turning up to social work appointments under the influence of drugs, making it difficult for staff to address his issues.

Sheriff John Mundy said: “There is no prospect of any success in relation to the Drug Treatment and Testing Order. The report is awful.”

Johnston, 27 Lothian Street, Bo’ness, was sentenced to 27 months in prison.
