To mark Valentine’s Day, women across Falkirk are being offered a heartfelt invitation to sign up for this year’s inspiring Race for Life.
Organisers Cancer Research UK say there is no better time to commit to taking part in memory of a loved one or just to show support for others battling the disease.
Race for Life is a UK-wide series of events which asks women to walk or jog a 5K route and raise as much as they can to fund vital research into all forms of cancer.
Falkirk’s Race for Life will be held in Callendar Park on Sunday, June 21, and all Falkirk women are being asked to make it a date.
Anna Thompson, Cancer Research UK’s Falkirk event manager, said: “Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to spend time with the people we love.
“For this reason it’s also the perfect date to enter Race for Life.
“Everyone who takes part in Race for Life, and raises money for life-saving research, will be playing a crucial role in helping more men, women and children survive cancer.
“Pledging to take part in Race for Life, alongside thousands of like-minded women, is incredibly motivating.
“The atmosphere on the day is full of emotion. Participants wear signs on their backs declaring their reasons for taking part.
“Many will be remembering loved ones lost to cancer or celebrating the lives of people who have survived.
“And as the cold, dark days of February drag on, knowing that they’ve signed up to Race for Life later in the year could help women feel more inspired to stick to their resolutions to get a bit fitter in 2015.”
Last year, 2000 women took part in Falkirk Race for Life and brought in a total of £114,000.
