Ineos apologises to local community
Petrochemical giant Ineos said it was sorry for the noises coming from its Grangemouth site on Tuesday night.
The disturbance was the subject of complaints to environmental watchdog SEPA, who stated the noise was caused by high pressure steam venting due to a fault in the system. An Ineos spokesman said: “We apologise to our neighbours for the noise last night, caused by the venting of steam from our power station during the recommissioning of one of our turbines. This was safely managed, but led to considerable disturbance to those living close the site.”
Some residents claimed the noise reminded them of an aeroplane taking off.
A Grangemouth householder said: “We didn’t hear anything - we’re so used to the constant hum and rumble of Ineos we must have missed it.”
