Hunt begins for Howgate's next top model

The hunt is on to find Scotland' next top model '“ and the winner will land a modelling contract with the country's top agency.

Back by popular demand in the Howgate centre after success of the inaugural event last year, would-be models can be from five years old with no age barrier on the oldest entrants for Model Search Scotland.

The Falkirk shopping centre has partnered with Model Team to find editorial and commercial males and females.

Based in Glasgow, it is the country’s longest established model agency and director Michael O’Brien has revealed Model Team will sign up one winner from each age category for a maximum of 12 months.

The age categories are: five to 12 years; teens – 13 to 19 years; young adults – 20-30 years; and commercial 31-plus years.

Margaret Foy, the Howgate’s marketing manager, said: “Following last year’s event, we’re delighted to be bringing back Model Search Scotland.

“Once again we will be having a scouting day in the centre but this year, people will also be able to enter online.

“The successful first round finalists will take part in our fabulous fashion shows in May and October before the overall winner is selected.

“Last year’s event attracted entrants from all over Central Scotland and we’re looking forward to welcoming all our would-be models into the centre.

“We’re hoping more males and more mature people will become involved as there is lots of commercial work out there for them.”

The scouting event takes place on Saturday, April 1 with the judges selecting a short list to attend a casting day on Sunday, May 7.

The Howgate’s Spring fashion show takes place on Saturday, May 27 when the first round finalists will take to the catwalk alongside professional models.

Entrants will then be selected to go through to the grand final and as well as the Autumn fashion show, they will also take part in a professional photo shoot. The overall winner will received a £200 Howgate gift card and a bag of treats from the shopping centre.
