Hurricane conditions caused problems for commuters this morning with surface water making driving conditions treacherous – and the weather is set to return this afternoon.

As Scotland was battered with winds of up to 100 mph and very heavy rainfall this morning, roads across Falkirk were busier than normal.

The M9, M80 and the M876 were tailed back and the town centres slow due to the surface water. The Forth Road Bridge is currently closed to high sided vehicles.

Police Scotland Tweeted a warning to motorists to be careful with reports of flooding and dangerous driving conditions.

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for Central Scotland for high winds until 3pm with the rain expected to be heavy and persistent this afternoon.

The conditions look set to continue through out the week.
