Stirling & District Embroiderer’s Guild is a branch of the national charity that meets every month and does all styles of stitching.
Meetings are a lively and varied programme of talks, presentations and practical sessions for stitching and socialising. There is a dedicated membership of around 40 people whose skills and interests cover a wide range.
They include textile art, hand and machine embroidery, cross-stitch and stump work, gold work and black work and every colour in between.
The ‘Guild’ word does not imply there is any need for a qualification or expertise as the only requirement is interest or enthusiasm for what can be created with needle and thread, fabric and colour.
Members come from Falkirk, the Hillfoots, Auchterarder, Doune, Strathyre, Dunblane and Stirling and promote the art and craft of embroidery by educating others. The group has completed several projects over the years including the Stirling Banner for the Smith Museum.
