Keeping active as you get older is very important to your health and wellbeing and Age Scotland is at the forefront of helping those in their golden years flourish.
The Polmont branch of the charity is a busy group run by volunteers offering opportunities for older people to get out and take part in a wide range of activities from simply having a cuppa and a chat and enjoying entertainment every week to annual outings to places of interest.
The group attracts between 50-60 people at its weekly ‘Wednesday Club’ which can include music from local performers, film shows by the Polmont Rotary Club, fundraising events and visits from organisations such as the NHS and police.
Betty Glen, who helps run the group, said: “There’s a wee bit of everything at the Wednesday Club which is always busy. Our members like a good sing-song when we have musicians along, but sometimes it can be just about having some company as well.”
