The infamous Scottish weather doesn’t dampen the Kirk of the Holy Rood Walking Group’s enthusiasm for a weekly walk.
The group does a walk every Tuesday evening during the summer months to help members keep fit and active with a leisurely walk around the local area and further afield.
Just 30 minutes of brisk walking keeps the cobwebs away and helps you look and feel better and it’s absolutely free as well. All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes.
While the group is run by members of the church, it is open for non-members of the congregation to join and is for any age and fitness level. The oldest participant is in his mid-80s. Routes are varied and include a circular to Polmont, paths near Stirling, over to the Kincardine Bridge or more locally the Helix, Falkirk Wheel and other walks with nice scenery.
The routes are planned out in advance but the walk is informal and is a chance to catch up with friends, enjoy a blether as you go and explore different areas.
