If you’re seeking a good ‘knight’ out, you might want to check out what’s happening at the Grangemouth Community Education Unit on a Wednesday evening.
This is where Grangemouth Chess Club gathers for its weekly meeting for players to brush up on their skills for the centuries-old game of strategy, one of the world’s most popular games.
The group has around 10 members of all ages who are happy to help new members get to grips with the game’s rules and test each other’s knowledge.
The club is the only one in the Falkirk district at the moment and plays in the Central League against other clubs.
Secretary Bill Gray said: “Chess is an amazing game once you get into it.
“Our club is a great way to learn it and we always welcome people who want to learn.
“Our weekly meeting is very informal and we play a few games for practice. It’s a great way to meet and socialise with other players.”
