Caring for a loved one can be a tough and debilitating labour of love but help is at hand for those who need it thanks to the Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Carers Centre in Falkirk.
Carers look after family members and loved ones who suffer from serious health conditions such as chronic arthritis, brain damage and strokes and save taxpayers £10bn through their work.
The centre provides an informal drop-in facility every Wednesday where carers meet up to discuss issues, have a blether over a cuppa, enjoy a little respite, support each other and receive any advice they might need.
During Carers Week this week (June 8-14) the centre has organised a range of activities for local carers during the campaign that includes pampering sessions for carers and a film matinee of ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’, complete with popcorn and refreshments tomorrow (Friday).
The Falkirk area has over 21,000 carers, but the centre believes there are more “hidden” carers who need help.
