Sauvingnon blanc, pinot noir or white zinfandel. Whatever your taste in wine, one local group will certainly have something to tickle your tastebuds.
The Denny Wine Club meets every month to taste other members’ own home produced nectar and exchange information about wine making. The club is one of the best known of its kind in the area and has been around for more than 30 years. It currently has 14 members.
Meetings are very informal and when a couple of glasses are consumed, revellers can set the world to rights with a few more glasses.
The tasting of commercial wines on sale in shops is done twice a year as ‘blind tastings’ and the club holds an annual competition for home-made wines. Flavours focused on already this year include liqueurs, country white dry and table red dry, while elderberry will be up at the September meeting.
Visitors who are interested in wine making or tasting are made most welcome, as are new members.
