Caring for a loved one who has a debilitating condition can be stressful, but help is available for those who take on that challenging role.
The Care With Confidence Group meets in Bonnybridge and offers support to carers and their families.
Training co-ordinator Donna Mulder, who runs the group, said: “We keep it as informal as we can, and mostly it is, but it depends what our carers need.
“The support we give is tailored around the needs of carers and, with the members all being carers themselves, there is lots of peer support. One member said it’s like coming along to see a good friend.”
The group provides advice and support on a massive range of issues carers face like coping with stress, first aid, falls prevention and anger management and has access to health professionals who visit the meetings to give talks. Organisers also point carers in the direction of other support services.
