A brave Grangemouth girl thought she was dreaming when she met pop princess Katy Perry.

Grace Newton (5), who was diagnosed with the bone cancer Ewing’s Sarcoma in February, couldn’t believe it when she was the only one invited backstage to meet the ‘Roar’ singer after a sell-out concert in Glasgow on Saturday.

And, the once-in-a-lifetime treat rounded off a special weekend for little Grace.

The McKechnie School of Dance pupil was guest of honour at a fundraiser at the Beancross on Friday night when a staggering £3400 was raised.

Organised by dance teacher Nadine McKenzie, the crammed community event raised the cash incase Grace needs to receive treatment abroad.

Nadine said: “We were overwhelmed by the support, and it was all for Grace.”

Grace’s mum Janet said: “We want to thank everyone who has helped, we’re so touched.

“The money raised on Friday was absolutely fantastic, and Grace danced the whole night and was the last one on the dancefloor.

“Then we got last minute tickets to see Katy Perry and Grace really likes her.

“This was the first concert she has ever been to so the bar has been set quite high.

“The next morning she woke up and asked if she had dreamt it.”

Grace, who is receiving chemotheraphy and treatment at Yorkhill Hospital, also received a signed photo from Katy saying, ‘To Grace, you’re my firework’.
