Grangemouth gran dies after bus fall

An 85-year-old woman who died after falling on a bus has been named by police.

Grandmother-of-four Dorothy Burns, of Burns Avenue, Grangemouth, boarded the local service - believed to be operated by First Bus - just before 1 p.m. on Monday, January 30.

She was on her way to Zetland Parish Church’s Monday Friendship Club to meet pals and play dominoes when the incident happened.

A police spokesman said: “She suffered injuries to her arm and was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital. However, her condition deteriorated and she died on Friday, February 3.”

Police are currently investigating the incident and a report is being sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
