What better way to shake off those winter blues than a New Year's resolution to get outside and revitalise the spirit.

The Stroke Association is encouraging people to get going and shape up after Christmas by signing up to a 5k or 10k Resolution Run.

The run will take place on Sunday, March 6, at Cramond foreshore in Edinburgh.

Kicking off at 10.30am, this fun run provides the perfect motivation to get fit after the festive period all while raising vital funds for charity.

Kirsty Scott, community and events fundraising
manager at the Stroke Association, said: “One in six of
us will have a stroke and it is the leading cause of impairment and disability in

‘‘The important thing to remember is that strokes
are preventable and if people made simple lifestyle changes, such as keeping blood pressure under control,
eating healthy food and
exercising more then there could be fewer strokes.

‘‘We’re encouraging people in the Central Belt to get fit and take part in our Resolution Run, with friends, family or on their own.

‘‘Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned runner, we
welcome participants of
any ability and you can
choose your own pace and distance.

“The event is now in its fourth year at the Cramond Foreshore.

“Last year we had nearly 400 runners and raised nearly £10,000. The money raised will fund vital research and go towards preventing stroke and supporting people affected by stroke in Scotland.”

Registration for the Resolution Run begins at 9.30am with a 10.25am pre-run warm up and 10.30am start.
