Members of Laurieston Old People’s Welfare Association are grateful for two supporters of their organisation who made generous donations.

Helen Smith of Montana Homecare presented a cheque for £1000 to treasurer Lorna Mason while Ross Duffy, manager of Laurieston Co-op, handed over £500 to chairperson Margaret Paton from the store’s carrier bag levy.

Thanking them both, Margaret said: “This money will allow us to run four trips in the coming months, two to St Andrews, one to Dunfermline and another to the Falkirk Bohemians show in the town hall. Any money left over will go towards the upkeep of the hall.”

The group has 650 members who meet every Thursday for a coffee morning with other events held throughout the year including bi-monthly concerts, Christmas party and an Easter gathering.
