A spokesperson insisted: “We are always looking for new store locations so we can best serve our customers. Whilst we are interested in the Falkirk area, we have no further details at the moment.”

Meantime, the new owners of the BHS department store chain which has an outlet in the east end of the town, have still to confirm if it will be one of 40 they plan to close to save money.
