Debbie and Scott Cunningham tied the knot at the Three Kings in Shieldhill with a ghoulish ceremony the Addams Family would have loved.

Debbie (nee Phillips), a prison officer at Polmont Young Offenders Institute, looked amazing in her white blushing bridal dress, scary eye make-up and coloured contact lenses, bright red lipstick with a pair of vicious vampire fangs underneath.

Husband Scott (29), who works as a storeman for bus builder Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL) in Camelon, was resplendent in his kilt and jacket, however, he donned a half skeleton face, while other members of the wedding party, including bridesmaids Donna Donnelly, Laura McBride and Carly Crooks wore goth make-up and chokers.

Their daughter Bonnie and flower girl Lacey Donnelly also had spooky make-up on and the venue was decked out with Halloween decorations like gravestones, scary owls and pumpkins.

Debbie (30) said: “We just wanted something a bit different and a wee bit fun so as it was Halloween we decided to dress up a little.

“We don’t have any special affinity with Halloween and we’re not goths or anything like that, but some of our friends love it and suggested it because we usually have some kind of Halloween party.

“It kind of took the heat off us a bit because other people were dressed up too. It would have great to get people to do the Michael Jackson Thriller dance but I couldn’t persuade them to do it.”

Scott popped the question to Debbie on Christmas day in 2014 after bridesmaid Laura set them up and Scott pursued Debbie with some Facebook chat.

The couple from Skinflats have been together for over five years and were married by Reverend Donald Scott, who is the minister for the Polmont YOI.

Debbie added: “I’ve been there for nearly 10 years and there was no one else I wanted to marry us than Donald.”

Debbie and Scott had 80 guests during the day and a further 85 for the evening reception.
