Falkirk youth can shape future of Scottish sport

And Larbert’s Fraser Johnston is calling on the next crop of inspirational youngsters from the region to apply to become members of the Young People’s Sport Panel (YPSP) when applications go ‘live’ from January 25.

The YPSP, which is a partnership between sportscotland and Young Scot, and has made great strides in ensuring the voice of young people is part of the sporting conversation across Scotland.

The 16 current panel members, who are between 14 and 25 years old, were chosen from more than 200 applicants from across the country.

All of them had many hours of volunteering, coaching and participation across a range of activities both within and out with sport.

YPSP member Fraser, who despite studying and living in Glasgow remained committed to the Tryst Community Sport Hub, was recognised at November’s sportscotland awards when he received Young Volunteer of the Year.

He said: “I would definitely advise anyone thinking of getting involved in the panel to apply.

“It has changed my life getting involved in sport as part of the national agency and I’ve definitely made friends for life.”
