The work of a community volunteer who helps feed hundreds of people will be featured on TV tomorrow (Friday).

Falkirk Foodbank project manager Alf Collington will appear on STV’s hunt for Scotland’s Real Heroes which is due to be broadcast at 8 p.m.

Alf was nominated by local RBS boss Alan Smart and has now made the final three in the Community Entrepreneur category.

He was selected by a panel of judges but after the broadcast the public will have an opportunity to vote on who they think deserves to win.

Alf (65), of Denny, has been involved in the foodbank since it was set up last year.

He said: “I was amazed to learn of the nomination and I’m delighted for everyone who is involved with Falkirk Foodbank.”

It provides food parcels of essential items to families and individuals in need.
