A two-month intiative to tackle violent crime in the Falkirk area got under way today.

Operation Tetra will see officers acorss Forth Valley sent out on intelligence-led, high-visibility patrols, with support from additional officers from other divisions.

Police will also be working with housing and social work services to help victims and to take action against repeat offenders and in areas of concern.

Superintendent Kenny Macleod said: “Reported crime and offences are at a five-year low in Forth Valley, but it is only by working together that this improvement can be sustained.

“We want our communities to feel safe and, more importantly, be safe, whether socialising in our town centres, attending events or going about their personal business.

“We request the assistance of the public and ask that they be alcohol aware and know their safe limits as all too often assaults are as a result of alcohol intake.

‘‘Working together we can make Forth Valley a safer place to work and live in.”
