FALKIRK Council's ruling group has been accused of scaremongering over potential cuts to the budget.

SNP group leader David Alexander claims the administration misled the

public over how much the Scottish Government grant would be reduced by.

It had been feared that the cut might be as much as 13 million - instead it is likely to be instead around 2 million.

While the average reduction is 2.6 per cent, Falkirk's reduction is just

one per cent. Some areas have had a reduction of 4.5 per cent.

The figures were unveiled at Falkirk Council's policy and resources committee on Tuesday.

Councillor Alexander accused the administration of 'political gamesmanship'.
