Falkirk could soon be firmly on the map by being chosen as a location for one of the world’s most famous board games.

Monopoly celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, and bosses have shortlisted six Scottish towns that are in the running to feature on a customised birthday board.

It means that famous Falkirk landmarks, streets and venues could replace iconic Monopoly locations such as Mayfair, Park Lane and Old Kent Road.

But, Falkirk is up against stiff competition for the prize, with towns such as St Andrews, Ayr and the city of Stirling also in the running.

Now board game bosses have left the final decision for the public to decide.

The city or town that emerges with the most “pride” will get its own official board,

The board, showcasing property landmarks from the winning location, will go into production to be ready in time for Christmas 2015 and will hit shop shelves in October.

Other features will see the four train stations from the London original being handed over to a ‘travel’ theme.

To vote for Falkirk, email election@winningmoves.co.uk or by traditional post to SCOTLAND, Winning Moves UK, 7 Praed Street, London W2 1NP.

The voting closes at midnight on February 28.
