Falkirk ballerina takes New York's Seventh Avenue by storm

It was snow bother for budding Falkirk ballerina Aimee Thomson when she visited New York at the weekend.

The St Mungo’s pupil was in the Big Apple with mum Victoria and gran Linda Miller to celebrate her recent 13th birthday.

However, Storm Jonas brought blizzard conditions, closing shops, restaurants, Broadway shows and stopping all traffic.

But Aimee, who is training with Scottish Ballet and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, braved the cold in leggings and pointe shoes to get this remarkable photograph.

Victoria said: “Aimee always takes her pointe shoes on holiday so she can get pictures next to landmarks. This was taken in Seventh Avenue, near Times Square and she was determined to strike a pose.

“Passers-by started clapping and cheering when they saw her. It was very surreal but a great memory.”
