A controlled explosion will take place at the Ineos plant in Grangemouth at 6pm tonight.
Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald left a message on Twitter this morning telling his constituents the explosion was nothing to worry about.
The demolition work at 6pm is linked to the ongoing construction at the site.
An Ineos spokesman said: “We confirm that, as part of its works to make space for new office accommodation and business HQ, we have employed a specialist demolition company to undertake works to remove redundant equipment.
“This work has been ongoing for a number of months. Tonight this specialist company will use a well-established method of controlled explosive demolition to demolish a redundant structure within a designated demolition zone.
“Safety will always be our number one priority. This piece of demolition work has been carefully and meticulously planned and assessed. It will take place on a part of the site that is now a demolition plot where there has been no manufacture of chemicals for many years.”
