Exam joy for Linlithgow Academy

Pupils and staff at Linlithgow Academy are celebrating this week after a record success rate in the SQA exams.

The arrival of the results on Tuesday saw a record number of youngsters achieve top marks.

This year an impressive 33 students received five or more As – and headteacher Karen Jarvis could not be prouder of her students.

She said: “We did expect an improvement in our Higher results but nothing like this.

“It shows how the hard work of the pupils, teachers and parents has paid off.

“Massive congratulations to everyone.”

If five As wasn’t enough to shout about, six pupils managed to bag themselves at least five band one As.

Alex Ralston received a band one A in maths, English, biology, chemistry, physics and Spanish. Rachel Reid received five band one A’s and one band two in maths, English, biology, chemistry, Spanish and business management.

Louisa Marshall was awarded the same in maths, English, biology, chemistry, French and history.

Peter Hourston passed maths, English, physics, chemistry, history and French with five band one A’s and one band two.

Sarah Boxall, who is currently in Romania helping build houses, received five band one As in bilogy, chemistry, English, maths and RMPS.

The fifth year pupils thanked their teachers and parents for their support.
