A Police Scotland spokesman said: “A 43-year-old man has appeared before Falkirk Sheriff Court following a report of domestic assault at an address in Union Street, Bo’ness, on Saturday, April 30.”

Mr Hutchison is further accused of sending a letter from an undertaker to another woman at her home in Broxburn and has been charged with an offence under section 127 of the Communications Act.

The section covers sending communications using the internet that are of an indecent, obscene or menacing character.
