Kristina Sefleriene (25) has taken to social media with what she intends to be a full explanation of how cash specifically raised for Falkirk and District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH) will be used.

She said: “The money that we fundraise through our website goes straight to FDAMH’s bank account”.

Last month Falkirk Herald reported how she and partner John Wells (45) aim to push themselves to the limit in an attempt to walk to the base camp at Mount Everest.

The couple will battle the elements for 15 days in November as they make the 62km walk up to one of the world’s most dangerous mountain regions.

The walk is to raise money for Falkirk and District Association for Mental Health (FDAMH) as it has helped both John and Kristina through difficult times in the past.

John was the only survivor of a road accident that killed five people and the charity was able to help his recovery.

He said: “They were amazing at helping me get back on track following the accident which left me suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.”

The couple have been climbing Munros at the weekend to help prepare them for what lies ahead.

But now Kristina says there has been “interest” locally in where cash she and John raise actually goes.

She said: “Fair enough, when I give my money away I want to know where it’s going to as well.

“The money that we fundraise through our website goes straight to FDAMH’s bank account.

“The cash that we fundraise through our events such as disco/raffle/tombola is put to our bank account. We then put it onto our website and then it is transferred to FDAMH’s bank account.

“The transaction to FDAMH’s bank is done automatically every week.”

She added: “So far we have raised £1,639. As you can see on our website £1,169 has already reached FDAMH and I’m sure has been put to good use. “The remaining £470 are still sitting in my cupboard and waiting to be put onto the website to be transferred to FDAMH.”

She says the Mount Everest trip will cost her and John around £3,000, but that they are paying for it from their own pockets,

Kristina added: “None of the money that has been raised from the community goes to fund our trip.”

She says they have raised a small amount of cash from selling unwanted items through car boot sales - but that they still have a long way to go to reach target.
