Emergency services and coast guard find man in River Forth near Clackmannanshire Bridge

A man was found in the River Forth after police discovered an unattended vehicle on the Clackmannanshire Bridge earlier this morning.

Both the Clackmannashire Bridge and the Kincardine Bridge were closed to traffic in both directions while police dealt with the emergency incident, which happened just before 6.30am.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were made aware of concern for a person after a vehicle was found unattended at the Clackmannanshire Bridge around 6.25am on Wednesday, May 27.

“A man was found in the River Forth a short time later and was returned to the shore by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service with the aid of HM Coastguard.

“He was passed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and taken to Forth Valley Hospital for treatment.

“The bridge was closed to allow emergency services to work in the area and anyone affected is thanked for their understanding.”

Both bridges have now reopened to traffic.
