Stenhousemuir families must now rebuild lives after fire gutted their homes

Two families fled house fires and managed to escape with their lives but that was all they were left with as their properties and possessions were lost in the blaze.

The residents of Ladeside Crescent, including a mother and her three children, were left with little more than the clothes on their back after fire engulfed their homes just after 8pm on Monday.

The incident saw firefighters from four appliances battle the blaze and extinguish the fire at the two semi-detached properties.

An SFRS spokesperson said: “We were alerted to reports of two houses on fire at Ladeside Crescent and mobilised four fire appliances and one height vehicle to the scene.

"Firefighters extinguished a fire affecting two semi-detached properties. No casualties were reported.”

Members of the SFRS fire investigation unit were at the scene, along with Police Scotland officers, on Tuesday morning, looking into the cause of the fire.

According to police the blaze began in one house and then spread to the other.

On Wednesday a Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The fire is not being treated as suspicious.”

While there might not have been any injuries and the residents were indeed lucky to escape the accidental fire unharmed, they are now faced with the daunting prospect of finding new places to live and replacing all the items that were lost in the fire.

To help them in this regard, a gofundme page has now been set up by a well wisher to raise as much money as possible for the two families.

It stated everyone, including pets, made it out of the fire unscathed, adding: “Unfortunately both their homes have been destroyed and neither family are allowed back into the building and now nobody has any belongings.

“Any money raised will go towards new items for these families who unfortunately have to rebuild from scratch.”

The total is now approaching the £300 mark.

The Falkirk Herald contacted Falkirk Council to see what support the local authority was giving the two now families at this time but had not had any response.

People can visit the Gofundme page for more information.
