Elton John had fans rocking in the aisles at The Falkirk Stadium.

Last night’s concert, the first-ever at the community venue, was voted a huge success by the 13,000-plus who attended.

The legendary star played for almost two and a half hours to the delight of his fans of all ages.

Sir Elton gave the opening slot on the bill to Scottish schoolgirl Tallia Storm and she was followed by talented musicians 2CELLOS, who stayed on stage as part of the backing band.

His playlist contained all the favourites you would expect and with a career spanning over four decades, there is certainly plenty to chose from.

He immediately had the audience on their feet when he launched into opening number ‘Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)’, followed by ‘Bennie and The Jets’.

The audience roared their support and joined in with such popular hits as ‘Philadelphia Freedom’ and ‘Rocket Man’.

As well as updating the crowd on the Euro 2012 results, Sir Elton thanked Falkirk Football Club for their helping in arrange the concert and wished them well for the coming season.

He rounded off the night with ‘I’m Still Standing’, ‘The Bitch is Back’ and ‘Crocodile Rock’, but to the delight of everyone packed into the stadium, he returned to the stage to perform ‘Your Song’ as a fitting encore.
