Sam Scott (66), originally from Addiewell, started as an apprentice with the firm at the age of 16 and spent a large part of his career helping connect people moving to the then new town of Livingston to the Grid.

He said: “It’s been great to always work close to home and play my small part in helping the area grow in to the successful place it is today. There’s always been variety with the job, that’s what I liked about it.

“I’ve made some really good friends down the years and we’re one big family in the Bonnybridge facility really, although there’s not many who’ve been here as long as me now.”

Sam is looking forward to his retirement with his wife of 30 years Margaret and has promised to get the garden sorted out before heading off on a motor home adventure or two in Scotland and Ireland.
