The threat of more strikes by lecturers at Forth Valley College has been lifted.
Members of the EIS Further Education Lecturers Association had planned to withdraw their labour tomorrow and Wednesday in protest at the offer of a one per cent pay rise.
But talks between them and Colleges Scotland have led to the threat of more nationwide industrial action being suspended.
A draft agreement was reached after 12 hours of talks that followed a walk-out by the union last Thursday.
Charlie Montgomery, salaries convener of EIS-FELA said: “We are pleased to have made this breakthrough that will set a sound foundation for going forward.”
Shona Struthers, chief executive of Colleges Scotland, said: “The management side has worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome which will see an end to any further disruption to students and start to address harmonisation of terms and conditions for college lecturers.”
The details of the draft pay agreement which negotiators are recommending be accepted will be put to the EIS FELA executive on Thursday.
