Dundee are favourites says Falkirk boss Houston

Peter Houston believes Dundee’s status as a Ladbrokes Premiership side makes them favourites in Saturday’s William Hill Scottish Cup clash.

The Bairns manager watched the Dens Park side triumph over neighbours Dundee United in the Tayside derby at the weekend, before overseeing his side’s 1-0 win over Alloa.

He was followed south to Clackmannanshire from the City of Discovery by paul Hartley, the Dundee manager, who watched Falkirk defeat his old side.

“We’ll get the respect we’re due,” said Houston. “Dundee are doing their homework on us. They’re cautious. But in my eyes they are the Premiership side, and they are favourites.

“However we are on a good run of form. I’d love another crack at [the Scottish Cup final] and I’ve enjoyed the good and bad in cup runs.

“We have faced two Premiership sides already – we defeated Partiock Thistle but lost heavily to Ross County.

“But we’ll go up in confidence and do things properly. It should be a good cup tie – I’m actually surprised it wasn’t one of the matches selected for television.”
