Larbert Rail Training Centre was the first stop for Vale of Carron Rotary members at their weekly meeting. Rotarian Colin Mather introduced Jim Lamont, who welcomed everyone on behalf of Network Rail. With the aid of images, Jim used his knowledge and experience to take us on a whistle stop tour from the first horse drawn trains, through the construction of railways by many different companies, to the present upgrading works at Larbert Station. Even non train spotters followed and enjoyed the relaxed and detailed presentation. The group viewed working sets of track with points, signals and all equipment necessary to ensure trainees reach the highest standard of safety.
