S’Kids Pre School Nursery is holding a quiz for adults at the Welfare Hall, Main Street on Friday, February 28 at 7 p.m. Maximum six per team, £3 per person entry fee, raffle and half-time game. Community Council

Shieldhill & California Community Council’s next meeting will be held in the Community wing, next to Shieldhill Primary School tonight (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m. All are welcome - if you have any issues you wish to raise or highlight please attend.

Healthy Walks

From Monday, March 3 at 1 p.m., weekly walks from the Milk Barn at Glen Farm will recommence. Join in for a free walk, up to two hours, exploring the beautiful Callendar Estate and Union Canal. Find out about the heritage and wildlife of the area. Stout boots advisable. Dogs welcome. Ice cream at the end, not compulsory, but highly recommended! Parish Church

Last Sunday the annual Thinking Day Service was conducted by Rev. Louise McClements. The Rainbows, Brownies and Guides played an active part in the service through song, prayer and relating some of the history of 100 years of the Guide Movement. Sunday School and the Apprentices were also involved in the service, highlighting the ‘Make Bananas Fair’ campaign for Fairtrade Fortnight. The children’s story was told by Mrs Rena Moore. The Sacrament of Communion will be celebrated this Sunday, March 2 at 10 a.m. The banner group meets on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the church hall. Sunday morning services are recorded and a CD is available for anyone who is housebound or unable to attend church. Gospel Hall

Friday-Timeout, the programme for boys and girls continues on Friday at 6.30 p.m. with choruses, a quiz, a Bible story and juice and biscuits. All children invited, with adults if desired. The Monthly Ministry Meeting will be held on Saturday evening at 6.30 p.m. when the speakers will be Mr Ian Steele from Glenburn, and Mr John Riddle from Cheshunt. Mr Riddle will preach the Christian Gospel on Sunday at 3.30 p.m. (note time)and teach the Word of God each night, Monday to Thursday at 7.30 p.m. All are invited to these meetings. The Mums and Tots continues on Wednesday at 9.30 a.m. for all mothers and toddlers in the area. There is no charge, and tea and coffee are supplied. All are free to come and go as they please.
