Masonic News

A fine turnout of members and visitors were at Lodge Polmont No 793 on Wednesday, February 12 when they witnessed an excellent Third Degree ceremony carried out by the RWM, John Curry and his team of Office bearers. The next meeting of the Lodge will be on Wednesday, February 26 at 7.30 p.m. The business of the evening will be minutes, accounts and a Second Degree. All qualified brethren and visitors will be made most welcome.

Parish Church

Last Sunday the minister, Rev. Murdo Campbell, led the service at 11 a.m. During the service the baptism took place of Alexander William, son of Moira and Michael Fyall. This Sunday the minister will lead the worship at 11 a.m. Tonight (Thursday) the Congregational Prayer Time takes place in the small hall at 7.45 p.m. A warm invitation is extended to everyone to come along to this time of prayerful fellowship. The next evening meeting of the Guild is on Monday, February 24. It is the guild’s fundraiser - a fashion show, in the church at 7.30 p.m. The proceeds from the sale of Fashions by the Strathcarron Shop will go to Strathcarron. Tickets priced at £5 (including refreshments) will be split between guild funds and Strathcarron. Tickets are available from any Guild committee member or at the door on the night. The Deacons’ Court will meet on Tuesday, February 25 at 7.45 p.m. in the Rankine Hall. There will be the regular prayer time prior to the Court at 7.15 p.m. in the small hall, open to all elders and deacons. The second in a series of three prayer taster sessions will take place on Wednesday, February 26 between 7.30 and 8.30 p.m. over a cup of coffee, tea and some cake in the small hall. The World Day of Prayer will take place on Friday, March 7 in Slamannan Parish Church at 7 p.m. Congratulations go to the Boys’ Brigade Company Section team of Josh Heggie, Andrew MacLeod and Stuart MacLeod who finally succeeded in doing what no other 1st Polmont team has done - they won the Battalion Pulpit Fall competition for Bible knowledge on Sunday, February 9. Door duty this Sunday will be by Billy Rankine, Ian Lawson, Malcolm Lewis, Pat Paterson and Doug Maden. The creche will be manned by Nancy Lees, Elspeth McCallum and Gillian Beaton.
