Denny Old

Worship on Sunday begins at 11 a.m. and will be led by Sandra Mathers. The Sunday Club meets at the same time. Creche facilities will be available. The total weight of donations for the Falkirk Foodbank collected at last week’s Harvest Service was 176.3kg. This was much appreciated by the Foodbank. Thanks to all who donated. There will be no Lunch Box this Monday. It will resume on October 20. The Girls’ Brigade meets on Monday at 6.30 p.m. in the hall, and is open to all girls of school age. The Guild meets on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in the hall when there will be an art demonstration by Marjory Sime from Larbert. New members will be made most welcome. Items for the October magazine to be with Elinor Clunie by Sunday, October 19 at the latest. Please note the session meting originally planned for Wednesday, October 15 has now been cancelled.

Westpark Church

Worship on Sunday begins at 10.30 a.m. and will be led by the Rev. Phyllis Wilson. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. The Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15 - 11.45 a.m. The Open Door is on today (Thursday) from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for tea, coffee and lunch. There is a choice of two soups, main course, sandwiches, sweet or fruit loaf at reasonable prices. The collating and checking of the Blythswood shoeboxes will take place on November 21. More details will follow. A Christmas bookstall will be held after church for the next three Sundays. It will also be open on Saturday, October 18 from 10 a.m.-noon to allow members of the community to purchase cards, calendars, Christmas gifts and books.

Baptist Church

The services on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. will be led by the Rev. Norman Graham. Visitors are always welcome. Harvest thanksgiving will be celebrated this week with donation envelopes available for gifts for the Baptist Missionary Society. Due to school holidays there will not be a Point Youth club tomorrow (Friday) and no toddlers groups on October 16 and 17.

Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street and is open today (Thursday), Friday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only (4-5 p.m.). Outreach clinics are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon and Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon. WASP Classes

There are still spaces left in Otago, a popular exercise class that can help prevent elderly people from falling and helps to give people back their confidence and keep their independence. It begins on Tuesday, October 21 and meets each week for a total of eight weeks. A membership fee £6.50 applies. Back by popular demand, Angela Flaws will start a new jewellery class from Wednesday, October 22 from 7-9 p.m. for six weeks, using wire wrapping techniques to create hearts, roses, beads and make beautiful pendants, bracelets, earrings and much more. The class costs £30 plus materials. Masonic News

A regular meeting of Lodge St. Andrew (Denny & Loanhead) No. 176 will be held this evening (Thursday) at 7.30pm when the business will include the First Degree. On Saturday there is a Robbie Williams tribute cabaret night in the hall. Admission is £10 including an interval buffet.

Line Dancing

Next class takes place tomorrow (Friday) in the Broompark Centre from 1-2 p.m. Beginners and improvers welcome.

Wine Club

Denny Wine Club meets tomorrow (Friday) in the Broompark Centre and on the second Friday of each month. Come along to learn about all aspects of winemaking and try this rewarding hobby. New members welcome.

Buggy Group
