Remembrance Sunday

The service at the war memorial in Broompark Centre gardens begins at 10.55 a.m., with the silence at 11 a.m.

Denny Old

The Armistice service on Sunday will take place at 11.30 a.m. and will be led by Sandra Mathers. This will follow the Remembrance service and Dedication at the war memorial. There will be no Sunday Club or Creche facilities. The Lunch Box is open on Monday from 11 a.m.-1.30 p.m. for soup, sandwiches, tea/coffee and home baking. All welcome. The Girls’ Brigade meets on Monday at 6.30 p.m. in the hall, and is open to all girls of school age. The girls are once again supporting the Blythswood Shoe Box appeal, and if you would like to contribute items please see any of the officers or the girls. Leaflets with further information are available in the church.

Westpark Church

Worship begins at the later time of 11.30 a.m. following the Remembrance service at Broompark. Tea will be served in the hall beforehand. Kidzone take part at the start of the service then move to the halls to enjoy their own activities. Creche facilities are also available. The Wednesday Welcome is open from 10 a.m. for fellowship over tea or coffee followed by a short service from 11.15-11.45 a.m. Please note that the Open Door is open today (Thursday) from 10.30 a.m.-1 p.m. for tea, coffee and lunch. There is a choice of two soups, main course, sandwiches, sweet or fruit loaf at reasonable prices. All welcome. The collating and checking of the Blythswood shoeboxes will take place on November 21. Baptist Church

Work on the church grounds and in the church will commence at 9 a.m. on Saturday for anyone able to help - even for a short time. The Remembrance Service on Sunday will commence at 10.55 a.m. and the evening service is at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Norman Graham leading both services. Children and young people meet during the morning worship and a crèche is available during all services.

Citizens Advice

The bureau is located above Clydesdale Bank at 24 Duke Street, Denny and is open today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon and Friday, Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. A legal clinic is held every four weeks on Wednesdays by appointment only from 4-5 p.m. Outreach clinics are held at the Community Education Wing at Bankier Primary School today (Thursday) from 10 a.m.-noon, and at Bridge Crescent Community Flat on Tuesday from 9.30 a.m.-noon. Telephone service (Citizens Advice Direct) available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on (01324) 823118. Please note the bureau will close at noon today (Thursday) for staff training.

WASP Classes

Digi Buddies takes place each Thursday (today) from 2-3.30 p.m. If you have new technology and have nobody to help you access your iPad, laptop, smartphone, or want to learn about Facebook, Skype, how to access applications or how to access the internet for shopping - then these sessions are for you. Burns Club

Denny Cross Burns club held its October meeting in the Masonic Hall last Friday. President Stuart Assur welcomed members and friends. After routine business he then introduced the guest speaker Roz Bird who gave a fascinating demonstration of the art of making Christmas cards and designs in general, and a very informative talk on the subject. The next meeting will be the St Andrews Night celebration when the Toast to St Andrew and Scotland will be delivered by Lorna Duncan. Members to be seated by 7.30 p.m. Final arrangements for the May drive will be communicated at this meeting. Advance notice is given of the Christmas party on Friday, December 19. A committee meeting will take place on Monday, November 10 at 8 p.m.

Winter Fayre

Kool Kidz nursery in Winchester Avenue is hosting a winter fayre this Saturday from 10 a.m.-12.30 p.m. There will be fun for all the family with a tombola, face painting, raffle, bottle stall and much more.

Car Boot

Dunipace Primary Parents Association is holding a car boot sale on Saturday, November 8 from 8 a.m. for sellers and 8.30 a.m. for buyers. Anyone looking to book a car in please contact, £10 if you have your own table or £15 if you require one.

Buggy Group
