Witness to Falkirk car torching sought by cops

A fresh appeal for witnesses to a spate of arson attacks on parked vehicles has been issued by police.

A van and several cars were set alight in a scrapyard in Merchiston Industrial Estate, Falkirk, between 12.30 a.m. and 1 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2.

Officers are particualrly eager to speak to a man walking his dog along the footpath oustide the yard, who may have seen the suspects moments before the cars were set alight.

Detective Inspector Graeme Hendry said: “We are looking to trace this man who was walking his dog on the footpath along the A9, just oustide Merchiston Industrial Estate, in the early hours of last Tuesday as we believe he could have information to help our investigation.

“Similarly, anyone who saw any suspciious behaviour at the time is urged to come forward by calling police on 101.”
