Watch: Thieves break into Banknock house and drive off in family's three cars

CCTV footage shows a trio of thieves make off with three cars belonging to the same family after they had smashed their way into the house to grab the car keys.

The incident happened in Cedar Road, Banknock just after 1am this morning when residents were alerted to the break-in and their cars being driven away

A family member, who did not want to be named, said: “I saw my dad’s car lights go on and I realised something was wrong. I pulled the blind up further and looked out to see my dad’s car being driven off and then my car too.

"I went out and saw glass everywhere – they had thrown a slab through our window to get in and get the car keys. Our house keys were lying on the ground in our drive.”

Police reportedly arrested a man who had driven the three car thieves to the address.

One of the stolen vehicles was later found abandoned in Glasgow.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.10am on Wednesday, May 12, officers were called to the Cedar Road area of Banknock following the theft of three cars. An Audi Q7 has since been recovered, while a Volkswagen Jetta and a Vauxhall Insignia remain outstanding.

“A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the investigation and further enquiries remain ongoing."

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the cars should contact police on 101, quoting incident 0144 of May 12.
