A man accused of assaulting a woman by jagging her with insulin is being hunted by police.

When he failed to appear on Tuesday for a hearing, a warrant to arrest Andrew McKay on sight was issued by Falkirk Sheriff Court.

It is alleged the 32-year-old from Nisbet Drive in Denny either assaulted or acted recklessly by injecting his victim with the diabetes-control hormone at an address in Shieldhill on April 12, 2014 and assaulted her to the danger of her life that day by repeatedly pulling her hair and punching her on the head.

McKay has denied all the charges and is due to stand trial on January 18. Tuesday’s hearing had been set to ensure everything was ready for that to go ahead.

His lawyer Gordon Addison told the court: “I have not seen or heard from him in weeks.”
